Mystery: a song

Mystery: a song

To celebrate the close of my series of mini-retreats based on Body Poem I decided to make a new recording of my song Mystery which I wrote in 2016.

I was born in west Chicago
when I was little we moved east
I was raised Roman Catholic
in suburban New Jersey At 13 I found Wicca
and nature awakened me
moonlight wrapped me in safety
and starlight danced in my dreams When we lose our traditions
of history, ritual, and healing
we lose sense of what we have in common
and get lost in the marketing mainstream *********
Chorus: There’s mystery in shared experience
we’re creating that magic now
can you feel the space between us
when you breathe in I breathe out

*****

There is no way to listen to each other
without learning to listen to ourselves
but patience can be such a bother
easier to put our hearts on a shelf So how to we move forward
through this attack on democracy
authoratarian forces surround us
will you stand up with me I wanna dance like lighting
and I wanna be free
I hear music echo cross the body
of this earth that connects you to me *********
Chorus: There’s mystery in shared experience
we’re creating that magic now
can you feel the space between us
when you breathe in I breathe out

*****

I’ve been thinking ’bout this journey
everyday of my life
and I see peace and love brewing
though all they talk about is strife I guess is comes down to choices
where you set and who you be
life is for the living
and its death that’ll set you free But lets not worry about tomorrow
we got this moment right now
that’s something we can share together
and that’s something to smile about *********
Chorus: There’s mystery in shared experience
we’re creating that magic now
can you feel the space between us
when you breathe in I breathe out

*****
